JEE Main is a speed exam. Ninety questions, three hours, largely single-concept problems that test whether you can recognise a pattern and execute cleanly. The strategic implication is that Main preparation is about volume and timing drills, while Advanced preparation is about deliberately attempting problems that are harder than you can comfortably solve. Students who only drill Main-level problems hit a hard ceiling in Advanced.

In Chemistry, Physical Chemistry numericals plus Organic reaction mechanisms dominate. In Mathematics, Calculus and Coordinate Geometry together typically account for the largest share of the paper.
Yes, but it requires replacing what coaching provides: a fixed schedule, a graded problem bank and fast doubt resolution. Self-study students who succeed almost always follow a written weekly plan and have some way to unblock a stuck problem within minutes rather than days.
